Introduction to Somatic Sensing

Somatic Sensing is a profound practice of processing and releasing emotions as they arise in the moment which prevents the accumulation of stored stress in the body.

Through preventing the storing of these emotions, the nervous system is more regulated, leading to a more balanced, resilient, and vibrant life, as well as to greater harmony in our relationships with others and ourself.

Five Sessions of Psychological Teachings and Guided Practice

Session 1 ~ Regulate

In this first session we dive into introducing the concept of Somatic Sensing. Here we discuss the meaning of “somatic” and why building a relationship with this part of ourselves is imperative in our functioning as a Human Being. This session will also provide psychoeducation around our animal instinct and the nervous system, ending with a guided practice to regulate the nervous system.

Session 2 ~ Release Resistance

In this second session we dive into exploring the key elements of Somatic Sensing which include softening, openness, receptivity, non-judgement and safety. We then drop into a guided Somatic Sensing practice for letting go of resistance and teaching the brain/body a sense of safety. We communicate to the brain through felt-sensation and send the signal that we are safe in this moment in time.

Session 3 ~ Exploring Emotions

In this third session we really unpack emotions. We all have them, and finding more ease in this Human experience means learning to experience our emotions with less resistance. In this session, I help you to experience how to do this.

We talk about what emotions actually are, how they feel, and how to feel them safely. We then dive into to a Somatic Sensing practice to elicit and marinate in the experience of the emotion of love/gratitude (before diving into uncomfortable emotions in the next sessions).

Session 4 ~ Rewire the Brain

This session is all about our brain and how our brain is wired through repetitive somatic experiences. The brain believes what the body repeatedly feels, and we can rewire the brain through Somatic Sensing! We end the session with a guided Somatic Sensing practice to work with a belief and emotion that is presently alive for you.

Session 5 ~ Ease in Discomfort

In this fifth and final session for this introductory course, we really dive into feeling those uncomfortable emotions that we may often avoid.

We explore how to experience uncomfortable or even painful emotions more easily and how to foster a sense of safety within the nervous system to feel this discomfort. The guided Somatic Sensing practice to close this session is around experiencing an uncomfortable emotion with safety and ease
